Afmadow Youth Sports Tournament Sponsored by SARO

The Somali Advocacy and Relief Organization (SARO) proudly sponsored and supported the Afmadow Youth Sports Tournament, an exciting community event aimed at empowering young people, promoting peace, and strengthening social cohesion through sports.

The tournament brought together youth teams from various neighborhoods and schools across Afmadow district to compete in football and other recreational games. The initiative provided a vibrant platform for young men and women to showcase their talent, teamwork, and leadership skills while fostering unity and mutual respect within the community.

Speaking during the opening ceremony, SARO’s field coordinator emphasized that “youth engagement through sports is one of the most effective ways to build resilience, promote mental wellbeing, and encourage positive community participation.”

SARO’s support for this event aligns with its broader mission to empower Somali youth, promote peaceful coexistence, and contribute to community development through inclusive initiatives. The organization believes that by investing in youth, it helps nurture the next generation of Somali leaders, peacebuilders, and changemakers.

At the conclusion of the tournament, winning teams and outstanding players were awarded trophies and certificates in recognition of their commitment, discipline, and sportsmanship. The event received strong appreciation from community leaders, local authorities, and residents who praised SARO’s continuous role in youth development and social support programs across Afmadow.
